This course is designed to improve the quality of cross-generational relationships in personal and professional life. Objectives include confronting and breaking down generational stereotypes, recognizing valuable learning opportunities, improving communication skills, and gaining understanding and insight of the people who represent each generation.

In this course we will:

• Define each of the 5 current generations in the workforce

• Understand the narratives associated with each generation

• Work through real stories, conflicts, and successes in cross-generational interactions

• Introduce and discuss the generational life cycle of inheritance, stewardship, and legacy

About the facilitator: Rick is a 3rd generation NH master plumber / pipe fitter who has worked in the construction industry throughout his career. Rick attended college at Southern New Hampshire University, earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Studies. He is also entering his 3rd consecutive school year teaching classes for the NH Plumbing Apprentice Program at the New Hampshire School of Mechanical Trades in Manchester, NH.

This course is designed to review the theory of conflict in a variety of business settings. It will review theoretical and applied issues in causes of conflict, prevention, use in problem solving, and creativity. The course will look at constructive conflict, escalation practices, justice, and peacekeeping, and examine types of Alternative Dispute Resolutions commonly used in legal, political, and business environments. Attendees to this course will gain an understanding of the definitions and theories of conflict as well as the positives and negatives of conflict to individual and team situations. Attendees will be able to recognize both best and worst practices of conflict resolution when determining which will benefit different types of organizations and situations.

To know how to be a leader, one must first understand why leaders lead, as well as a few essential characteristics of a leader.

What is leadership? What makes a great leader? How do you inspire and lift every person in your organization so they are empowered to lead?

Ryan and Michael Hvizda will help you explore your leadership and how you can succeed when given opportunities to lead. They will discuss some of our great leaders, and provide real world examples of successes and failures.
